As a result of the pandemic our then 5 year old son William’s school went virtual and I suddenly found myself becoming the primary educator. He was in kindergarten then. As time went on I decided to teach him learning skills that I had discovered later in life when preparing for my MBA and several professional certifications. I always wondered why these techniques weren’t taught to kids to make students’ lives easier and make learning more fun and engaging. So I decided to try it out with William.
As a result of teaching William these skills, William was able to do multiplication and division before starting grade 2 and was able to recite the 50 states in the U.S. alphabetical order.
After seeing the success of using these techniques with William I decided to share these techniques and resources I created so parents can help their kids study effectively while making it fun!
I created MB4K to provide a place where kids can learn how to learn and immediately apply those skills to memorize important information they come across in their daily lives such as parents’ and grandparents’ phone numbers, addresses, multiplication and division tables, names of all 50 states. As a bonus even parents might pick up valuable skills as well!
MB4K reinforces what they have learned through quizzes and drills so kids and parents can track their progress over time.
My wish for William is to never let the tedium of studying prevent him from reaching his goals and to feel confident in being able to apply this knowledge as he progresses not only through school but also in his career, and be able to achieve any future academic and professional goals he desires. I’m sure as a parent you have similar hopes and dreams for your little one(s) which is why I created MB4K.

“Over the past several decades, I have studied and taught courses on human learning and memory. Human memory performance varies tremendously from person to person. Some people seem able to remember large amounts of information with little effort; others report struggling with daily memory challenges. While PERFORMANCE varies widely, there is a consensus in the memory research community that fundamental memory ABILITY varies relatively little. The differences in high and low levels of performance are largely due to HOW you use your memory—and only slightly due to your brain’s fundamental capacities.
Memory researchers have developed a wide range of strategies that people can use to enhance their memory performance. There are many of them. Entire books have been written on the topic. I have published entire video courses on these strategies for The Great Courses. Essentially all of this material is directed at adults rather than children. It’s a little sad that most of us finish the bulk of our schooling, where we need to do a lot of learning and remembering, before we discover many techniques to make learning and memory easier and more effective.
This web site takes important steps toward correcting this! It presents lessons, games, and quizzes in a fun format that will be accessible to children. Once they learn these “tricks” to make memory easier, kids will be able to take the strategies with them to school and ultimately out into the world around them. Kids who master these techniques will possess powerful tools to get more out of their brains, out of their school experiences, and, hopefully, more out of life.”
